Umicore’s Cobalt & Specialty Materials (CSM) business unit has been a global leader in the refining, transformation and marketing of cobalt specialties since 1912. Currently, CSM markets a unique and complete portfolio of cobalt chemicals and can rely on a fully integrated supply and transformation chain for cobalt.
Since 1980, CSM has completed its portfolio with nickel chemicals and since 2007, with a broad range of metal carboxylates for various catalytic applications at our Bruges plant (Umicore Specialty Materials Brugge - USMB) near the Belgian coast. Indeed USMB, formerly Corn. Van Loocke NV, was 100 % integrated in the Umicore Group in 2007.
Umicore Specialty Materials Brugge has a long tradition in the production, marketing and research & development of liquid and solid Cobalt and non Cobalt-organic components/Carboxylates, alkyd resins, dispersions, naphthenic acids and rubber adhesion promoters. We combine our competences in chemistry and materials science with a thorough understanding of our customers' needs, applications and systems.
Next to this, the following operational and functional disciplines are integrated on the site : Sales & Application, R&D centre, logistics and transport, purchase, human resources, TQM and Finance.
Our different metal carboxylates, alkyd resins, dispersions, naphthenic acids and rubber adhesion promoters are produced for different industries, such as inks & coatings, anti corrosion applications, the tyre industry and different catalyst (UPR, PU, Petrochemical, …) industries (please find all the details on the application & product port folio).
